DSUSD Community Watch
Welcome to our about page! We hope you are able to utilize the information found on this site to improve the quality of education in California.
Mission and Vision
DSUSD Community Watch is a local organization that provides the community with vital and detailed information that may not be readily available by the Desert Sands Unified School District. DSUSD Community Watch advocates for school district policies that respect the rights of parents, adheres to federal law, and readies our students for success. DSUSD Community Watch is open to all parents and community members who share our vision of reform in our schools, including school choice.
DSUSD Meet the Team
DSUSD Community Watch can trace its roots to 2021, when a diverse population of parents, community members, and even teachers, came together to protest DSUSD Covid policies, ethnic studies, CRT/DEI practices, and the diabolical gender ideology which so flippantly refers to child abuse as a nickname change. That group undertook a recall of the DSUSD board that saw the resignation of two board members and the forced removal, and replaced via election, of one replacement board member that was appointed. Now, in 2025, concerned community members and parents are contributing research, knowledge, and insight to bring destructive educational practices to light and promote best practices.

Kenny Snell
Co-Founder
Kenny was a high school teacher, and a parent, in DSUSD for 27 years, with some disruptions due to draconian and senseless covid restrictions. He taught World History, U.S. Government and Economics, International Baccalaurete Economics, Policy Debate (and coach), Computer Applications, and founded, developed the coursework for, and coordinated an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Academy--a California Technical Education program. Kenny, now retired, is passionate about grassroots advocacy and improving the quality of education in all of America, starting with the DSUSD. He researches (mostly) educational issues and publishes to Substack and the California Globe.
Dory O'Toole
Co-Founder
Dory is relatively a newcomer to FT residency in the Coachella Valley. Her interest in local government both city and school politics was provoked during the tyrannical movements of both state and federal officials as the Plandemic unfolded. Most disturbing were the abuses imposed on children within the school district to the unlawful mandates. As a Registered Nurse (retired) the human rights violations relative to bodily sovereignty and school districts practicing medicine without a license was the clarion call to start speaking up and out to the powers that be who were abusing our children on both a medical and academic plane. The clear attempt to instill totalitarianism thru tyranny has kept her engaged in righting the wrongs of Marxist ideologies fermenting in schools under the umbrella of DEI.
